HQ is partnering with News Corp stablemate talkRADIO to create “The Badass Book Club”.
Presenters Harriet Minter, Natalie Campbell and Emma Sexton from talkRADIO’s show Badass Women’s Hour XL will interview a different author from the HarperCollins imprint on their radio show every month from November onwards. An extended version of "The Badass Book Club" will be available to download immediately afterwards on the show’s podcast.
Due for broadcast from 7pm to 10pm on Saturday (10th November), the launch episode will feature Christina Dalcher the author of feminist dystopia Vox. Fifty free audio books, available via Kobo, will be simultaneously offered on "The Badass Women’s Hour" social channels.
Minter said: “Badass Women's Hour are incredibly excited to bring our love of fire-starting conversations to some of HQ’s most exciting authors. Through our talkRADIO show and podcast we champion brilliant, diverse and badass women who are changing the world. The books we choose for Badass Bookclub will do the same.”
She added” |We want to create conversations that challenge, inform and inspire, and through the Badass Bookclub we know we'll be able to take these conversations even further.”
Lisa Milton, HQ executive publisher, said: “At HQ we try to always think about our audience first. Our readers are smart, curious women. They need to fit books into their busy lives so finding new ways for them to discover and consume books is crucial.”
HQ authors lined-up for interview on future episodes include author Adele Parks, co-creator of the Woman’s Equality Party and author of Attack of the Fifty Foot Women Catherine Mayer, TV presenter and Diversify author June Sarpong, and Beauty of the Wolf novelist Sally Gardner.
HarperCollins and talkRADIO share the same parent company; the latter is owned by the Wireless Group which was bought by News Corp last year.
