HQ, an imprint of HarperCollins, has promoted Joanna Rose to associate publisher. Rose was previously divisional marketing director for the HQ division, and has been promoted effective immediately. The division’s marketing, publicity and design teams will continue to report to Joanna, and she continues to report to managing director and publisher, Lisa Milton, as well as sitting on the leadership and senior teams for the division.
Joanna joined the division as Mills & Boon brand manager in 2015, and was promoted to marketing director in 2018, adding the HQ and HQ Digital imprints to her portfolio and subsequently taking on Pavilion when it was acquired in December 2021.
Rose and her team have previously been shortlisted three times for the British Book Awards Marketing Strategy of the Year Award, winning the Nibbie in 2019, and the 2018 Futurebook Campaign of the Year award for BOSH!.
In her new role, Joanna will work with the senior team to develop and drive the division’s multiple imprint strategies—HQ, HQ Digital, Mills & Boon, Pavilion and recent addition Akan Books, which aims to break down barriers in publishing.
Rose said: "It’s an exciting time for all of our imprints. I’m thrilled to be taking on this new role, and to continue to work with brilliant colleagues, authors and readers to build even further on the many successes we have enjoyed together so far."
Milton said: "Joanna is an outstanding marketing expert, her creativity and ambition for our titles is unmatched. She is tenacious and laser-focussed on connecting our authors to as many readers as possible, and she helps us to thrive through innovation by making sure she and her team are at the forefront of digital developments. She is a true creative leader and the person I want at the table for every meeting. I’m excited to see Joanna continue to thrive and develop and continue to exceed our expectations in her new role."
