HQ has acquired two books by Canadian-born rapper, spoken word artist, poet, blogger and social media influencer Kanwer Singh also known as Humble the Poet.
Executive publisher Lisa Milton acquired UK and Commonwealth rights excluding Canada to Unlearn: 101 Simple Truths for a Better Life and Things No One Else Can Teach Us from a division of HarperCollins US, HarperOne. Both titles will both be published on the 17th October in hardback, e-book and audio.
Singh is a rapper, spoken-word artist, writer and ex-school teacher whose blog attracts more than 100,000 monthly readers.
Unlearn was initially published in Canada and "offers short, accessible, and counterintuitive lessons for reaching our full potential". Things No One Else Can Teach Us "delivers unorthodox lessons for shifting our perceptions and learning to create silver linings from our most difficult moments," HQ said. "Humble shares raw, honest stories from his own life—from his rocky start becoming a rapper to nearly going broke to being the victim of racial prejudice—to demonstrate how a change in mindset can radically alter our outlook."
Milton said: “Humble’s writing is profound in its simplicity. He shares his hardest moments to inspire us to become more self-aware and empowered. Through his honest approach and unique perspective, he transforms the way we respond to everyday challenges. This is self-empowerment at its best.”
Singh added: "I'm excited that Unlearn has found a home in the UK, and I can further my relationship with the reading community, and excited to bring them on board my journey with the follow up of Things No One Else Can Teach Us."
