Egmont Publishing's chief financial officer Alan Hurcombe has been appointed to the new role of chief operating officer for the Hodder Education Group.
Lis Tribe, group m.d., said the creation of the role was necessary to "maintain oversight and clarity in division-wide systems and processes".
"Strong growth in recent years, combined with an increasingly important digital offer, make it ever more critical to maintain oversight and clarity in division-wide systems and processes," she said. "These systems are critical to the ongoing success of the business and we have created the new role of c.o.o. to ensure Hodder Education continues to perform strongly in every aspect of our offer."
As well as leading the finance team as effective financial director, Hurcombe will work closely with Lyssum Ross, group operations director, to drive and support process improvements throughout the business. Ross will report to Hurcombe.
Hurcombe's career has spanned senior, operational and financial roles in a number of companies, including Egmont Publishing where he is currently c.f.o. UK and Australia. He will join the Hodder Education Group early in 2018.
