Former Scholastic UK group m.d. Alan Hurcombe is to join Egmont. He will take on the role of chief financial office for Egmont's English language area and Western Europe.
Hurcombe will lead finance across the children's publisher's UK, USA, Australian and German businesses, taking over from Jimmy Weir who is leaving the company to return to magazine publishing.
Hurcombe, who joins in September, will report to Rob McMenemy, senior vice-president for Egmont English Language & Western Europe.
McMenemy said of Hurcombe: "His incredible knowledge and expertise in children's publishing in the UK and internationally will be invaluable in helping to steer the next phase of our development."
Hurcombe said he had "long admired" the Egmont organisation and team and looked forward to taking his UK experience into a larger international role.
Hurcombe's senior management roles at Scholastic UK also included director of finance, operations, HR and IT.
