Extreme weather off the coast of China has delayed the publication of My Side of the Diamond, the latest novel from Carnegie winner Sally Gardner (Hot Key Books).
The children's book is among several titles caught on shipments from China delayed by hurricanes.
As a result, publication of Gardner's book - scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday 5th October) - has been delayed by two days.
A Bonnier Publishing spokesperson commented: “It is no surprise with the recent extreme weather that shipping books from the Far East has been disrupted– and unfortunately Sally’s new book My Side of the Diamond will be a couple of days late into the UK for publication.”
Typhoon Hato swept southern China with winds of up to 175kph (109mph), killing 12 people, on 23rd August, the BBC reported. On August 27th, Hong Kong and Macau were again hit, by tropical storm Pakhar, causing flooding and disrupting road and air traffic.
