The Booker Prize Foundation has revealed the winners of the first Indie Bookshop Spotlight, demonstrating "a testament to the power of indie bookselling".
The competition launched in August inviting independent bookshops from across the UK and Ireland to assemble in-store displays of the Booker Prize 2023 shortlist, sharing the results on their social media channels.
The six winning bookshops of the Booker Prize Indie Bookshop Spotlight competition are: Little Acorns Bookstore in Derry, Mold Bookshop in North Wales, Round Table Books in London, The Bookmark in the Scottish Highlands, Westwood Books in the Lake District and Winstone’s Hunting Raven Books in Somerset.
The final overall winner will be selected at random and informed by 10th November. They will receive two tickets to the Booker Prize 2023 award ceremony and dinner on 26th November at Old Billingsgate in London.
Hannah Davies, director of prize management and special projects at the Booker Prize Foundation, said: "We have been overjoyed with the response we received to our inaugural Booker Prize Indie Spotlight competition.
"Seeing booksellers across the UK and Ireland do what they do best — sharing new books with their communities — was incredibly special, and choosing just six was a challenge. From playful windows to striking shelves to tables encouraging customer participation, the winning displays were creative, impactful and engaging — a testament to the power of indie bookselling.”
