Ingram Publisher Services UK (“IPS UK”), an Ingram Content Group UK Ltd brand, has signed international academic and professional publisher Goodfellow Publishers for distribution services beginning 1st September 2024.
The latest business move means Goodfellow will implement stock-free distribution, an innovative approach eliminating stock gaps and supply disruptions. This means IPS UK won’t be holding any physical stock for the publisher, instead implementing an on-demand service through Lightning Source, Ingram’s printer and distributor of print-on-demand books.
Ingram explained this means it will offer “unparalleled efficiency and sustainability, and ensure seamless availability of all titles”.
Matthew Dickie-Cross, senior manager of IPS UK, said: “Goodfellow Publishers is a great fit for IPS UK. In addition to a vast amount of experience in multichannel publishing, its excellent title list is highly relevant to an academic and professional audience that increasingly looks as much towards practical advice as theory. We are also excited to support its transition to a zero-stock model. Our fully integrated virtual stock programme, Lightning Source, aligns perfectly with Goodfellow’s commitment to innovation.”
Sally North, editorial director at Goodfellow Publishers, said: “I’m incredibly impressed by the speed, efficiency and ease of the whole onboarding process by the IPS UK team, and we’re looking forward to working alongside them in the coming years.” In addition, Tim Goodfellow, co-director at Goodfellow Publishers, commented: “Speed to market has always been one of our focuses, and we look forward to being able to grow, underpinned by best-in-class distribution technology.”
