Pan has promoted editor Lydia Ramah to the role of commissioning editor for non-fiction.
She will continue to support publishing directors Sara Cywinski and Ingrid Connell while building her own list.
Ramah first joined Pan Macmillan in 2022 to cover Cywinski’s maternity leave, taking on the responsibility of editing and publishing the bestseller Finding Hildasay by Christian Lewis, the forthcoming Berserker! by Ade Edmondson and When the Fury Takes Over by John Fury. She also worked on Sunday Times bestseller and international bestseller Beyond the Story: 10-Year Record of BTS.
Ingrid Connell, non-fiction publishing director, said: “Lydia is an invaluable member of the non-fiction team. She is a creative and thoughtful editor and has earned herself a reputation for efficiency and an unflappable calm. She has an excellent eye for commercial non-fiction and we are excited to see her start on her commissioning journey.”
Ramah said: “It’s a privilege to be contributing to Pan’s upcoming non-fiction list, and I can’t wait to announce the books I have acquired. I’m looking forward to publishing more big name memoirs, as well as extraordinary personal stories, social media led trends, music, comedy and personal development. Agents — if in doubt, send it my way.”
Lucy Hale, Pan publisher, commented: “This year has been a year of substantial growth for Pan — our fiction publishing has long been the powerhouse of the list and we are now seeing the fruits of our investment in a greatly enhanced non-fiction publishing programme. We launched Macmillan Business in the spring and Lydia’s promotion to commissioning editor is another indication of Pan’s clear ambition to be market leaders in commercial non-fiction.”
Macmillan Business was announced in April, headed by Mike Harpley, and will publish between eight and 12 titles a year.
