The Independent Publishers Guild is launching a virtual international publishing forum, which will take place on 9th-10th March 2021.
The new event will see the IPG facilitate one-to-one meetings with a wide range of UK and international retailers, publishers, distributors, suppliers and experts.
Sessions will be scheduled for networking and discussions in specific areas of publishing, including trade, children’s, academic and professional sectors, and online content to help members improve their knowledge of markets. The platform will have interactive features that are designed to encourage 'chance meetings' between attendees over the two days.
The forum aims to fill a gap in publishers’ opportunities for new business development, following the cancellation of book fairs and much-reduced international travel over the past 12 months. It follows the IPG’s delivery of its online Spring and Autumn Conferences in 2020.
The forum will be free to attend for all publishers, with members of the IPG receiving priority access to meetings and other features. Various sponsorship and exhibiting opportunities are available for suppliers and service providers who are seeking to connect with publishers.
IPG c.e.o. Bridget Shine said: “We know that many IPG members badly missed book fairs in 2020 and have been short on chances to connect with current and potential customers and partners. Our International Publishing Forum is an excellent new way to combine the IPG’s strengths in networking and online event delivery, and help publishers strengthen their contacts and do better business.”
One-to-one meeting slots for the forum will open in February, and details of participants will be announced over the coming weeks. Any business that is interested in participating in the event can contact the IPG by emailing nikki@independentpublishersguild.com.
