Novelist Isabelle Broom is moving to Hodder & Stoughton from Michael Joseph.
Editorial director Kimberley Atkins bought world English language rights, including audio, for two novels from Hannah Ferguson at Hardman & Swainson.
Atkins, a former editor at Michael Joseph, worked with Broom on previous books. The first Hodder & Stoughton novel will be published in 2020 as a paperback original.
Broom was the book reviews editor at Heat magazine until the end of 2018 and became books editor at Woman & Home last month. Since 2016, she has published five novels, with sales exceeding 56,000 copies. Her final novel with Michael Joseph, One Winter Morning, will be published in October 2019.
Broom said: “I was fortunate enough to begin my publishing adventure with the incredible team at Michael Joseph, and I'm extremely proud of the six novels I have done with them. Leaving was not an easy decision but getting the opportunity to work with the utterly brilliant and super-talented Kim again was one I simply could not pass up.”
Atkins added: "I am over the moon to be reunited with Isabelle Broom, whose first novels I acquired when I worked at Michael Joseph. Isabelle is a supremely talented author, brimming with passion and brilliant ideas. I’m thrilled that Hodder & Stoughton will be the new home for her unforgettable fiction and am so looking forward to publishing her next books.”
