Walker Books last night announced Jane McGuinness as the winner of the 2016 Sebastian Walker Award for Illustration.
The prize, set up in 2011 to celebrate new talent in children’s illustration, is run in collaboration with the MA course in Children’s Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art at Anglia Ruskin University. It was set up in honour of Walker’s founder, Sebastian Walker.
Jane McGuinness began the MA course at the Cambridge School of Art 18 months ago. She also has a BA in illustration from the University for the Creative Arts in Maidstone, Kent.
McGuinness was presented with a £500 cheque from Sebastian Walker's sister, Mirabel Cecil, last night (11th February) at the Candid Gallery in London, which will exhibit work from the artists who entered the prize until 13th February.
The work will also be exhibited at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge.
Last year the prize was given to Simona Ciraolo.
