Psychological thriller author Louise Jensen has moved from Bookouture to HQ in a three-book deal.
The move sees Jensen move from an digital-first strategy to a simultaneous print and digital publication strategy. The first book under contract, The Family, will be published in October 2019 in paperback, e-book and audio, and is billed as “full of twists” by the author.
The Family follows a mother and daughter, Laura and Tilly, who, when all seems lost, turn to a group of apparently well-meaning strangers for help. But as they settle into their new community, sinister things begin to happen and Tilly becomes enthralled by the ‘head’ of their new family, Alex. It becomes clear to Laura that she needs to get her daughter away from Alex but she may have already left it too late.
Lisa Milton, executive publisher at the HarperCollins imprint HQ, acquired world-all-language rights from Rory Scarfe of the Blair Partnership.
Jensen is the author of four psychological thrillers which have been Kindle bestsellers. She has been published by Bookouture since her debut, The Sister, was published in July 2016 and signed the deal for her latest title, The Surrogate, with the digital publisher last year.
Milton said: “I’ve long been a fan of Louise’s books and it’s a dream come true to welcome her to HQ. She writes pacy and gripping thrillers that put women at the centre of the action, and presents us with scenarios that seem so plausible that it’s no wonder she already has an army of fans who are always eager for her next new books.”
Jensen said: “I’m incredibly excited to be in the expert hands of Lisa Milton and have received such a warm welcome from the dynamic and creative HQ team. The Family is full of twists and I can’t wait to share it with readers.”
