Hodder Studio has signed a book on food, life and love from musician and podcaster Jessie Ware.
In Omelette: Food, Love, Chaos and Other Conversations, Ware will share musings on culture, family and society, in short thematic chapters, to provide "a snapshot of her life, the world she lives in, the people she’s met, and what she actually thinks matters". It is scheduled to publish in hardback, e-book and audio on 10th June.
Editorial director Harriet Poland bought UK and British Commonwealth rights from Charlie Brotherstone at BCM.
Poland said: "Jessie has a remarkable gift for ‘cool’ coupled with warmth, wit and integrity, so we’re incredibly excited to publish this perfect distillation of her thoughts on food, family and life. And like the best meals, it will be the sort of thing you’ll want to consume quickly, talk about expansively and share with love."
Ware's fourth record "Whats Your Pleasure" charted at number three in the UK album chart last year, and in 2019 she won Best New Voice at the Audio Production Awards for her podcast "Table Manners" that she hosts alongside her mum, Lennie.
Commenting on the book deal, Ware said: "Omelette gives you a glimpse into my first loves: food and eating. Writing a book is unlike writing a song, something I usually collaborate with others on, but I guess there was a new kind of collaboration through revisiting and lamenting over these memories with family and friends. It’s been incredibly revealing and somehow rather cathartic. Now put into one piece of work, I realise that I have had a lot of fun in my devoted, undying search for the perfect taste."
