Authors including Lisa Jewell, Ann Cleeves, Mick Herron and Lucy Worsley are set to head the line-up of Murder One, Ireland’s international crime writing festival, this October.
After two year’s online, authors and attendees will descend on a new venue, Dun Laoghaire’s LexIcon Library and Cultural Centre, just south of Dublin, between 4th and 9th October.
Many events however will still be live-streamed online, with several online-only events, including a masterclass with Peter James and police adviser and ex Chief Superintendent Graham Bartlett, plus online interviews with authors such as Laura Lippman and Jean Hanff Korelitz on the agenda.
Cultural historian and TV presenter Worsley will be discussing her latest biography of Agatha Christie, while Herron will be in discussion with fellow crime author Declan Hughes about his latest novel, Bad Actors (Baskerville).
Cleeves will be discussing her latest Vera Stanhope mystery, while Steve Cavanagh and Jewell also headline.
Also in attendance will be Vaseem Khan, Nadine Matheson, Catherine Ryan Howard, Brian McGilloway, Andrea Mara, Edel Coffey and Sinéad Crowley.
Murder One is run by crime author Sam Blake, who together with festival director Bert Wright, has established Murder One on the Irish festival circuit.
He said: “Murder One is supported this year by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Libraries as well as The Arts Council and Dublin City of Literature – it’s a festival all about readers and post-pandemic, when reading became such an important distraction, we want to re-introduce you to the irreplaceable experience of live author events while retaining an online presence to widen access for those who find it difficult to attend festivals.” More details on the line-up and tickets can be found here.
