Joffe Books has promoted Emma Grundy Haigh to editorial director, starting in November.
Grundy Haigh has led the editorial team since joining Joffe Books in 2019, also driving initiatives such as the Joffe Books Prize for Crime Writers of Colour. As editorial director, she will play an expanded role in strategic planning but will also continue to commission commercial genre fiction, alongside new publishing director Kate Lyall Grant and c.e.o. Jasper Joffe.
She said: “Joffe Books is a such a dynamic place to work and I have loved being part of this brilliant, tight-knit team. During my time here, I have been given tremendous scope to pursue initiatives and expand our reach, especially through material actions such as the Joffe Books Prize. Moreover, it has been an absolute honour to acquire so many wonderful authors, such as Victoria Dowd, Susanna Beard, Biba Pearce, Meeti Shroff-Shah, Jon Barton, Kate Watterson, Paula Lennon, and most recently the wonder that is Jean G Goodhind. I am thrilled to continue to build our brilliant list and can’t wait to see what we achieve next."
Joffe added: “I’m delighted that Emma is becoming editorial director. This promotion reflects the outstanding job she has been doing. She has steered the Joffe Books list to fantastic growth, with sales reaching record levels this year. Her strategic drive and commitment to our authors is what makes her so good at her job. Each book really matters to her. Plus, her creation of the Joffe Books Prize for Writers of Colour has allowed us to start making some positive and much-needed change. I am excited to see where we go next with her as editorial director."
