John Blake has released a collection of stories, in partnership with Asda’s Ticked Pink Foundation, from people who have experienced breast cancer.
Breast Cancer and Me: Inspirational Stories of Living with and Beyond Breast Cancer was published today (3rd October) to mark the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. All profits from the book are donated to the Tickled Pink Foundation for the charities they support.
The synopsis states: “Breast Cancer and Me is a powerful book that shows that whatever your own circumstances you are not alone. It is a comforting, enlightening and often entertaining read that contains heartfelt advice and motivation for anyone affected by breast cancer. Above all its deeply personal and unflinchingly honest stories serve to remind us all of the true strength of the human spirit and how we too – no matter what life throws at us – can find a way through.”
Lizzie Israeli, senior partnership lead for Asda at the Breast Cancer Now charity, said: “We are so grateful to Asda, Bonnier Books UK and to each person who has shared their experience of breast cancer to make this book possible. So much progress has been made in research and care for breast cancer, but the disease remains the most common cancer in the UK and there is still much more to be done. We believe, that by 2050, everybody who develops breast cancer will live – and be supported to live well. By purchasing this book, which is raising funds for Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign, you are helping us to get closer to making this aim a reality.”
Ciara Lloyd, senior editor for John Blake, added: “It has been an absolute honour working on Breast Cancer and Me and with these incredible men and women who have bravely shared their stories. The Tickled Pink campaign has done such amazing work to help fundraise and raise awareness of this devastating disease, and I’m so proud to have been a part of it.”
