John Murray Press has launched a new imprint called John Murray One, “devoted to making this one incredible life count”.
Made up of "established bestsellers, high-profile names and rising stars", John Murray One aims to bring “fresh, practical and actionable tools, engaging stories and powerful insights to help readers unlock their potential and thrive in mind, body and spirit".
The name of the imprint is inspired by its mission to spark solutions, find wonder and channel joy, one life, one day at a time. Its publishing director, Iain Campbell, and senior commissioning editor, Jonathan Shipley, will continue to be based at Hachette’s London office.
Campbell said: “This is the culmination of 10 years of hard work by the John Murray Press team, our creative, talented authors, and our loyal customers who have generously given us the freedom to develop a distinctive and unique style of self-help publishing that’s outspoken, playful, credible and practical.
“Only at John Murray One will you be empowered to Just F*cking Do It, asked But Are You Alive? and reassured that whatever happens, You Are a Badass Everyday. John Murray One is a springboard for a diverse mix of UK and international talent to share their expertise on living well, and we’re thrilled to be fuelling curious minds seeking a different perspective on personal growth with the tools and inspiration to seize life and make it happen.”
To celebrate the launch, welcome packs including branded tote bags, reusable coffee cups and calming loose leaf tea have been sent out to journalists, authors and influencers. Celebrations will also continue online, including daily tips from John Murray One authors and exclusive giveaways.
In tandem with the launch of John Murray One, a 10th anniversary edition of Jen Sincero’s You Are a Badass publishes on 25th May. Sincero will be in London to give a flagship talk at #TogetherFest alongside speakers including Katherine Ryan, Dr Alex George and Stuart Pearce MBE and from today is leading a week of launch activity on John Murray One’s social channels, which will also see the likes of authors Eloise Skinner, Andy Cope, Dr Byron Cole and Colleen and Jason Wachob, co-founders and co-chief executives of mindbodygreen, take part. Launch week activity on socials can be found here.
