Jonathan de Peyer has been promoted to editorial director for non-fiction at HarperNorth.
Currently commissioning editor, de Peyer joined the company at its founding in 2020.
Working with HarperNorth publisher Genevieve Pegg, who oversees the list’s fiction and non-fiction, he will drive the continued growth of North’s non-fiction publishing, across genres from humour to travel, food to music.
His publishing at HarperNorth has seen titles in the running for prizes from William Hill Sports Book of the Year – with Nooruddean Choudry’s Inshallah United – to Fortnum & Mason-shortlisted Food of the Cods from Daniel Gray.
Pegg said: “Jon brings creativity and tenacity to all his publishing and his tirelessness in hunting down timely projects, encouraging new and diverse voices and finding books that cut to the heart of debates has been a joy to work with. I’m looking forward to the wealth of exciting titles Jon is launching in the coming months as well as the energy I know he’ll bring to his enhanced strategic role.”
De Peyer said: “The experience of building a list at HarperNorth, together with the wonderful (and growing) team here in Manchester, has been the privilege of my career.
“I’m grateful for the faith placed in me as we continue to pursue our essential aim of generating new opportunities for aspiring writers, and readers, across our nations and regions. Any and all success belongs to our wonderful authors, their creativity and their generosity.”
