Authors including Ruth Jones, Jacqueline Wilson and Oliver Jeffers have all joined the bill for Bookshop Day.
Taking place on 8th October, the annual campaign, which is organised by the Booksellers Association, encourages consumers to shop in their local bookshop and ensure their high street is thriving.
Jeffers will be signing copies of his latest book, Meanwhile Back on Earth (HarperCollins), on Bookshop Day in Muswell Hill’s The Children’s Bookshop. Meanwhile in Essex, Wilson will be celebrating her new book, Project Fairy (Penguin), at Maldon Books.
The Little Ripon Bookshop will host Jones signing copies of Love Untold (Transworld), a novel about mothers and daughters and the complex bond between them.
Emma Bradshaw, head of campaigns at the BA, commented: “Bookshop Day is next week, and we simply cannot wait to see bookshops across the country buzzing with events, children’s sessions, author talks and the million other activities that booksellers have been busy organising over the past few months.
"There’s no better time than Bookshop Day to visit your local bookshop and celebrate the difference they make to our high streets. This is also the perfect occasion to start your Christmas shopping early, and get personalised recommendations for your Christmas book presents from the experts.”
