Kate Evans is to move to a new role at PFD, joining the books department full time as an agent.
Evans, who has been at PFD since 2014, founded the agency’s digital first publishing imprint, Agora Books. As publisher she oversaw Agora’s expansion to include a list of bestselling commercial fiction alongside reissues of the agency’s backlist.
Having built a non-fiction list alongside her work at Agora, Evans will now focus on agenting.
PFD head of books Tim Bates said: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming Kate full-time into the books department. She’s been agenting eye-catching books alongside her existing role at Agora for a while, and it was only a matter of time before her fine taste and judgement would make her transition to full-time agent irresistible. She has already done some great deals for several urgent, intelligent and sassy non-fiction books and we look forward to her expanding her list, especially into commercial fiction.”
Evans added: “I’m delighted to be joining the PFD books department full time and am so excited to expand my list into new areas. My time at Agora Books has been the most challenging and genuinely rewarding of my career, having the opportunity to experiment with new pathways to connect authors and readers while seeing a new business thrive has been an absolute dream and I can’t wait to explore what’s next.”
