Kate McQuaid, publicity and campaigns manager at Faber & Faber, has joined William Heinemann and Windmill as its new publicity director.
McQuaid has nine years of PR experience, most recently at Faber and previously in North America at the House of Anansi Press.
Campaigns she has been involved with include Anatomy of a Soldier by Harry Parker, All My Puny Sorrows by Miriam Toews and Grief is the Thing with Feathers by Max Porter. She has worked with prestigious writers on Faber’s list including Nobel Prize winners Orhan Pamuk, Mario Vargas Llosa and Michael Frayn, and is credited also in her ability to break debut authors.
McQuaid will join the company today (5th September), reporting to Charlotte Bush, director of publicity and media relations for Cornerstone.
Bush said: "I know that Kate has a genuine love for author care and agent relationships and coupled with her media, partnership and events experience she will be a superb addition to the team."
McQuaid said: “I'm deeply honoured to be joining the William Heinemann and Windmill teams at this exciting moment in their publishing. Heinemann is one of the longest-running houses in the UK, and its list of new and established writers is brilliantly brave and unique. I look forward to working with my new colleagues to continue to create industry-leading campaigns in the future.”
