Kate Mosse is set to release her first YA crossover non-fiction book with Macmillan Children’s Books.
Macmillan announced today that it had acquired the rights to Mosse’s new non-fiction title, Feminist History for Every Day of the Year.
Pan Macmillan is home to Kate Mosse’s recent adult novels – and her non-fiction history book Warrior Queens & Quiet Revolutionaries – published under the Mantle imprint. World all-language rights were bought by Cate Augustin, editorial director, MCB Fiction and Non-Fiction at Macmillan Children’s Books from Philippa Milnes-Smith at The Soho Agency.
Feminist History for Every Day of the Year will be published in hardback in autumn 2025. This is Mosse’s first book for a YA crossover audience, and will highlight female role models for young people. The book will sit within MCB’s strand of author-led non-fiction that aims to "inspire and motivate children of all ages".
Mosse said: “From inspirational politicians to lawyers who fought for women’s rights, from environmental campaigners to explorers of space, land and sea, from educationalists to those who marched for equal civil rights, from women of science and women of faith to warrior queens, from those who dared to raise their voice to make things fairer to writers, artists and composers, from sportswomen and community leaders and doctors and fossil hunters, this book will celebrate some of the amazing women and girls in whose footsteps we walk. Shining a spotlight on famous faces as well as those who deserve to be better known, more than anything I hope the book will inspire younger readers to believe that anything is possible and that they can change the world for the better.”
Augustin said: “As a long-time champion of women and female voices, Kate is the perfect person to be writing this book, introducing vital and inspirational pieces of history to a young adult audience in a truly accessible format.”
Alison Ruane, m.d. of Macmillan Children’s Books, said: “Kate’s knowledge and passion for championing women that have pushed boundaries and changed the world will inspire and motivate young people, which is an important mission of Macmillan Children’s Books.”
