Kelly Ellis, a commissioning editor at Ebury Press, has been recruited by Blink Publishing to head up its Blink Reality imprint in the role of editorial director.
The imprint's previous publisher Emily Thomas left Blink in February to "pursue new publishing opportunities", and continues to work on a freelance editorial basis for Blink.
Ellis will specialise in true crime and inspirational memoirs "with a newsworthy edge", as well as celebrity autobiographies, music and humour. She joins the company on 16th May, reporting to Blink m.d. Ben Dunn.
Former journalist Ellis has been commissioning at Ebury Press for the past six years, during which time she has accrued 20 Sunday Times bestsellers, including Katie Piper’s Beautiful, James Bannon’s Running With The Firm, Girl A and most recently, He Who Dares, the autobiography of Derek "Del Boy" Trotter.
Dunn said: “Kelly has an unrivalled hit rate, and a natural flair for reinventing existing or even forgotten genres; she’s that rarest of things: a trend-setter with the ability to produce genre defining titles. She’s a one off and we are very lucky to have her.”
Ellis commented: “I've loved working at Ebury and will miss the talented team and authors there very much but it feels like the right time for a new challenge. I find Bonnier Publishing’s ambition and energy hugely exciting so I'm thrilled to be joining the Blink team and can't wait to help bring their plans to fruition.”
