Kew Publishing has announced it has moved to Casemate, owned by Pen and Sword Books, for its book distribution after the collapse of Marston. Kew will move to Casemate under the umbrella of Saltway Publishing, Kew’s longstanding book sales representatives.
In July this year, The Bookseller reported that the United Independent Distributors (UID) group, which includes Marston Book Services, was starting the process of entering into administration, following six months of "failed" attempts to sell the business or partner with investors.
Kew will be moving to Casemate’s new UK distribution facility in Barnsley, along with Saltway’s other client publishers, Koa Press, Helene Lesger Publishing, Oscar Riera Ojeda and Baker Street Sherlock Holmes Collection.
Casemate has distribution facilities in the UK and US, and focuses on specialist, non-fiction and colour-illustrated lists across architecture, through hobbies and lifestyle, to the natural world.
Kew’s list includes books on horticulture and botanical art including most recently, Great British Elms by David Shreeve and Mark Seddon.
Kew publisher Lydia White said: "We are delighted to be working with Casemate, drawing on their expertise as a well-established distribution and publishing business, and look forward to continued work with Saltway. After months of disruption, upheaval and loss of sales, we are really excited that our titles will soon be available again. We’ll be launching a strong and vibrant spring 2025 list."
