Tilda Key and Darcy Nicholson have been promoted to publishing directors at Sphere Fiction, part of Little, Brown Book Group.
From 1st January 2023, Key will take on the role of publishing director: crime and thriller and Nicholson will take on the role of publishing director: general fiction. They will both report to Sphere fiction publisher Lucy Malagoni.
Key has published Colleen Hoover’s Verity, which has spent 20 weeks in the Sunday Times top 10 this year. She also publishes award-winning author Michael Robotham and is described as “an integral part” of the publishing teams for authors Patricia Cornwell and Clare Mackintosh.
Nicholson published Breaking Point by Edel Coffey this year, along with new books from Daisy Buchanan and Ali McNamara. She also works with Nicholas Sparks and publishes TikTok sensation Ali Hazelwood.
Lucy Malagoni said: “Darcy and Tilda have both made tremendous contributions to Sphere Fiction. As our publishing continues to thrive and we reflect on an outstanding year in 2022, I look forward to seeing all that they will achieve in their new roles.”
Key said she was “proud to take this step up at Sphere and grateful for the support I’ve had from across Little, Brown since I started". “They are the best in the business,” she said, adding: “This year has been filled with highlights and I’m honoured to work with such brilliant colleagues and authors, as well as excited to shout about some new acquisitions next year!”
Nicholson commented: “It has been an outstanding year for Sphere’s fiction publishing and it has been a thrill to see the hard work pay off, with our authors receiving awards and topping bestseller charts around the world. Being recognised in this way is the cherry on top of the cake and I’m so looking forward to everything 2023 (and beyond) has in store.”
