Ansa Khan Khattak has been appointed to the role of editorial director at Sceptre, taking up the role on 13th June and reporting to executive publisher Federico Andornino.
Khan Khattak is currently senior commissioning editor at Hutchinson Heinemann, where she has published Pulitzer Prize-winning author Paul Harding and acquired books by Rebecca K Reilly, Akutagawa Prize-winner Junko Takase, and literary debuts by Em North and Michael Deagler.
Previously she spent seven years at Picador where she published Wendy Erskine, Danielle Evans, Toshikazu Kawaguchi, Mary South and Éric Vuillard. She said: “The opportunity to bring in the best new voices in literary fiction – in English and translation – to such a stellar list was unmissable.”
Andornino said: “Ansa is a hugely talented publisher, with impeccable taste, and I look forward to working with her and the rest of the team to expand, refresh and reinvigorate our fiction list. Sceptre is going through an exciting moment of reinvention and we are lucky to have Ansa on board.”
