The official graphic novel adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s novel Goods Omens has launched via Kickstarter and will be published by Dunmanifestin, the publishing branch of the Terry Pratchett Estate.
Adapted by Colleen Doran, the story follows the angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley as they attempt to avoid the impending apocalypse while trying to find the Antichrist.
The campaigns offers various contributory tiers where readers will receive a final edition of the "incredibly rare" Celestial edition of Good Omens. The tiers also include a variant cover by Frank Quitely, a comic book artist known for their work on Judge Dredd and Batman, alongside new trading cards and art work by Doran and Paul Kidby, the official artist of Pratchett’s Discworld series.
One tier has been exclusively tailored for independent comic and book retailers to give them the opportunity to become involved in the project. Independent retailers can also purchase packs of 10 books at 50% discount via the Kickstarter.
"I only wish Terry could have been here to join Neil and Colleen in collaboration on this project: he would have loved every second," said Rob Wilkins, Pratchett’s long-time assistant. "But in his absence an incredible job has been done, and we have a book that we’re proud and excited to bring to Good Omens fans and new readers alike."
Readers can pre-order the graphic novel via Kickstarter which will run throughout August 2023 with the publication scheduled for summer 2024.
Gaiman commented: "I’ve been working with Colleen Doran for almost 35 years and have loved her art and storytelling for longer than that. We are so lucky to have her genius bringing Good Omens to a whole new audience. Terry would have been so happy."
Doran said: "Nothing has given me greater pleasure, or been a greater honour, than to be chosen to adapt the beloved novel Good Omens for Neil Gaiman and the Terry Pratchett estate. I love the book just as much as you all do, and I have endeavoured to bring you a faithful adaptation that I also hope brings some liveliness of the graphic novel medium to the work."
