Kitty Chivers and Erin White have been appointed regional sales managers at Simon & Schuster UK (S&S UK), and will be joining the field sales team, reporting into UK regional sales director Richard Hawton.
White joins from HarperCollins where she is currently a key account manager, managing sales to customers including Gardners and Goldsboro Books, among others. In previous roles, she has worked closely with the HarperCollins field sales team in a support capacity. She joined the S&S UK team earlier this month, and will be managing sales to independent bookshops in the North—from Manchester across to the East Coast, and as far as the Scottish Border.
Meanwhile, Chivers is currently an English teacher and before that was a campaign manager for children’s non-fiction at Collins, managing the marketing and publicity strategy for its non-fiction list, including brands such as i-SPY and National Geographic. She was also senior campaigns executive at Penguin Random House (PRH). She will be managing sales to indie bookshops from Portsmouth to Penzance, and will start in the new role on Tuesday 27th August.
"I am absolutely delighted that Erin and Kitty will be joining us," Hawton said. "Both are huge fans of their local bookshops and bring with them a passion and wealth of experience that I know will be much appreciated by booksellers. It is hugely exciting to be able to expand the regional sales team once again."
He added: "It is no exaggeration to say that Independents represent the heart and soul of the book trade and as such deserve to be cherished and looked after by publishers. We have seen them not only survive everything that has been thrown at them over the past few years, but flourish. This is our way of recognising that success. We look forward to supporting them even more closely in the months and years to come."
