Hannah Knowles is moving into the role of publishing director to cover associate publisher Laura Hassan’s maternity leave at Faber.
Knowles joined the company in February as editorial director, covering publishing director Alexa von Hirschberg’s maternity leave. Von Hirschberg returns in January, with publisher Alex Bowler and Knowles continuing to oversee her list until then.
In her new role, which Knowles will take up from 10th October, she will be overseeing Faber’s general non-fiction titles.
Knowles has more than 17 years of publishing experience, holding editorial positions at Hodder, Ebury and Octopus, before moving to Canongate in 2016 and becoming editorial director in 2020. She has published authors including Ali Wong, Courttia Newland, Gina Miller, Mark Radcliffe, Michael Spicer, Nels Abbey and Salena Godden.
“Hannah has made an instant impact at Faber as a steadfast, acute and generous editor and list-leader,” Bowler said. “She is perfectly placed to ensure we continue to build on the wonderful success and momentum of a list that is flourishing so excitingly under Laura’s guidance.”
