Author and publisher Jodie Lancet-Grant will guest edit The Bookseller’s LGBTQ+ issue. The date of the special issue has now moved to 24th May.
Lancet-Grant is associate publisher at the Pan Macmillan division Bluebird, and author of LGBTQ+ inclusive picture books. Her debut, The Pirate Mums (OUP) illustrated by Lydia Corry, was the first book featuring a two-mum family to be read as a CBeebies Bedtime Story and publication of the follow-up, The Marvellous Doctors for Magical Creatures (OUP) illustrated by Corry, was accompanied by a partnership with LGBTQ+ charity Just Like Us. Her new book, The Legend of the Wild West Twins (OUP), is illustrated by Katie Cottle and will be published on 2nd May. Lancet-Grant is also chair of judges for the children’s and YA category of the Polari Prize.
Lancet-Grant said: "I am honoured to be guest editing this special edition of The Bookseller. Humans learn through stories, so our industry has a huge opportunity to drive acceptance and celebration of LGBTQ+ people through the books we publish and sell. I am so pleased that this issue will shine a light on the fantastic work already being done, and hopefully inspire publishers and booksellers to do even more."
This is the fourth guest-edited edition of The Bookseller focused on LGBTQ+ writing and publishing.
