The Kate Nash Literary Agency has recruited a junior agent as it continues to expand.
Lina Langlee, based in Edinburgh, will join the company following her roles in publicity at Black & White Publishing and rights at Canongate Books.
Langlee will be actively building a list of authors, focusing mainly on writers of commercial fiction “with a lot of heart” as well as crime and any genre of YA.
Founder Kate Nash was named a Bookseller Rising Star earlier this year, three years after taking the agency full time in 2015.
Nash told The Bookseller it was a “big decision” for a small agency to take on a full time hire, but that business was good and the commercial fiction market was buoyant. “Turnover is up. My authors are doing well. I don’t believe the talk in some quarters that digital is under pressure, I am not seeing that,” she said.
