Journalist and author Lauren Brown is joining The Bookseller to cover New Titles: Fiction while Madeleine Feeny is on maternity leave.
Brown is a writer originally from Billingham, Teesside, in North East England. Now based in London, she has worked as a journalist for seven years and written for the likes of the Guardian, Independent, Index on Censorship and a number of trade publications. She worked previously at The Bookseller as a senior reporter before working briefly with publishing imprint and production company Cheerio and then freelancing. Her first book, a memoir entitled Hands: An Anxious Mind Unpicked, was published by HarperNorth in 2022. Her literary work is represented by Marilia Savvides at The Plot Agency.
Brown said: "I’m over the moon to be taking on this maternity cover and look forward to months of voracious, wide reading, spying emerging trends and shouting about the best new fiction I feel everyone should have on their radar. I hope to be surprised, moved, entertained and challenged, and can’t wait to dive in."
Books editor Alice O’Keeffe added: “I’m very happy that Lauren is joining the ranks of The Bookseller’s books previewers. With her passion for books and wide-ranging taste, she is well-placed to select and champion the most exciting new fiction over the coming months.”
Brown’s first preview will cover February 2025 and run in the 1st November issue, for which the publisher deadline for submission is Friday 13th September.
