UK-based independent publishing group Legend Times has announced plans to increase its publishing fivefold by 2024.
The 25 journals it aims to publish by 2024 will be published by the University of Buckingham Press (UBP) and mark an increase from the five journals UBP published when it was acquired by Legend Times in 2019.
Legend Times has already doubled the journal list and currently publishes 12 research journals covering subjects such as education, economics, medicine, engineering and law.
Recent additions include two open-access journals, The Journal of Sustainable Dermatology in Practice (JSDP) (published in partnership with L’Oréal) and The Journal of IP Protection (JIPP), which includes content from WIPO and the IPO.
UBP’s overall mission is to publish meaningful research and content and make it available to as wide a global audience as possible. Its journals are published in partnership with a wide range of university departments and professional associations and are available under a mix of subscription and open-access models. “Transformative agreements" are under discussion with some of the 60+ global institutions the press works with directly.
Tom Chalmers, m.d. of Legend Times, said: “Since acquiring UBP, we have seen the huge demand for quality research as well as a gap in the market bridging academia and the commercial sector in which R&D investment is rapidly increasing. We are excited to establish ourselves as a publisher of high-quality and globally available journals and are looking forward to launching many new publications in the months ahead.”
