Lily James will join Margaret Atwood as a special guest for the live cinema event to mark the long-awaited publication of The Testaments (Vintage).
The Booker-longlisted The Testaments, the highly anticipated sequel to Atwood’s 1985 global phenomenon The Handmaid’s Tale, will be published on 10th September.
Actress James, who made a name for herself starring as Cinderella in Disney’s 2015 live action remake and has taken on lead roles in 'Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again' and Danny Boyle's 'Yesterday' will join 'Margaret Atwood Live in Cinemas' on 10th September.
The event, which takes place on the Lyttelton stage at the National Theatre, will be shown in 1,300 cinemas worldwide. The live event will include readings, a Q&A between Margaret Atwood and Samira Ahmed and unseen documentary footage.
Atwood said: "I am delighted that the launch of The Testaments will take place not only in London on 10th September, but also by live-streaming to over 1300 cinemas around the world. I can’t be in all the places at once in my analogue body, but I look forward to being with so many readers via the big screen."
'Margaret Atwood: Live in Cinemas' by Fane Productions will be broadcast to cinemas throughout the UK, the US, Canada, Malta, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland on 10th September. Delayed screenings will take place in Australia, and New Zealand.
In addition to the live event there will be a midnight opening at Waterstones Piccadilly and a six date in-person tour across the UK and Ireland in October and November.
