Literary agent Jane Gregory has announced she is retiring at the end of the year.
She told industry colleagues: “The day has come at last when I retire from agenting and move on the next stage of my life, which I hope and expect to involve a great deal of fun, travel, getting up late, burning the midnight oil, writing ‘disgusted of Deal’ letters, extending my sea swimming season from May to September into the autumn..., reducing my ‘to be read’ pile of books, ‘spending more time with my family’ and I am sure that there are other things out there…”
Gregory founded Gregory & Company agency in 1987. It was acquired by David Higham Associates (DHA) in 2017. Gregory said: “When the team at G&Co joined DHA nearly five years ago, this was the first step in preparation for this next one. As we all know this job is impossible to do part-time, it’s all or nothing – so I must go. Over the past few months I have been working with my authors, helping them to choose their new agents at DHA and I dearly hope that these new alliances will prove hugely successful going forward.”
Gregory’s DHA email will no longer be in use from 23rd December.
