Anne Perry, literary agent at the Ki Agency, is joining Quercus’ Jo Fletcher Books as publishing director, effective from 26th September.
She takes over the helm from publisher Jo Fletcher, who announced in May she was leaving Jo Fletcher Books, the Quercus science fiction, fantasy and horror imprint she founded 11 years ago. Fletcher said she would reveal her plans for the future in due course.
Perry previously worked at Hodder & Stoughton, where she published authors including Nnedi Okorafor, Sarah Lotz and Pierce Brown, and discovered the Hugo Award-winning Becky Chambers.
She then worked as editorial director at Simon & Schuster for three years, publishing a wide variety of fiction, including authors such as Russ Thomas, Catherine Steadman and Simon Stålenhag.
Most recently, she has been a literary agent at the Ki Agency, working with authors across a range of fiction, including young adult (YA) and science fiction and fantasy (SFF).
Cassie Browne, fiction publisher at Quercus, said: “We are all completely over the moon to be welcoming Anne to Quercus Fiction as the new imprint head of Jo Fletcher Books.
“Anne’s reputation as one of the very best in the SFF community is unmatched. Her editorial taste and knowledge, her strategic thinking, as well as her commitment to honour the legacy that Jo has created, impressed us all here at Quercus. I am so excited for her to join and to see where she takes the imprint in the coming years."
Perry said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the brilliant team at Quercus. Jo is a legend in the SFF world and I have big shoes to fill. I can’t wait to get started.”
