Editor and author Lizzy Goudsmit Kay is moving from Transworld to become editorial director at online writing school The Novelry.
Goudsmit Kay is a senior commissioning editor at Transworld as well as a bestselling author under the name Elizabeth Kay. Her debut Seven Lies (Sphere) sold for seven figures at auction in 2019.
Speaking about her new appointment, she said: "I have enjoyed eight brilliant years at Transworld Publishers, working with and learning from some of the most talented and supportive people in the industry. I am going to miss my wonderful colleagues and authors very much. But I am thrilled to be joining Louise and the brilliant team at The Novelry. I have been so inspired by their creativity, focus and ambition, and am delighted to be heading the new editorial team."
The Novelry’s team has recently expanded to include author Harriet Tyce and the Observer "New Face of Fiction" Mahsuda Snaith, all part of a drive to better serve authors.
Founder Louise Dean said: "We prepare our writers for professionally published careers at The Novelry and we’re determined to provide them with the very best expertise. We have a great success rate for submission to our literary agency friends to secure our writers’ representation. I am over the moon that Lizzy Goudsmit Kay joins us to oversee those journeys and ensure the standards of fiction we are producing are the very highest."
The Novelry is now expanding its global reach fuelled by the success of its Book in a Year programme. Dean said that Goudsmit Kay's appointment to lead the new editorial services department will give novels "that touch of class" adding: "We want to be the home of stand-out fiction. The future for bold stories, beautifully told, is bright, and we mean to be a leading light."
