Katie Loughnane has been promoted to editorial director of Century fiction from her position as senior commissioning editor, effective immediately.
In her new role, Loughnane will continue to acquire general fiction, romance and saga for Century and work closely with fiction publishing director Emily Griffin on driving the list’s strategy.
Since joining Century in August 2021 from Avon, Loughnane has made a raft of acquisitions, including Holly Smale’s The Cassandra Complex in a seven-way auction, Laura Jane Williams’ Lovestruck, plus a number of new titles from authors soon to be announced. This year she published Katie Flynn’s The Rose Queen and Dilly Court’s reissued The Ragged Heiress.
Loughnane said of her appointment: “It is a joy being part of the Century team and I am very lucky to work with such talented and inspiring colleagues, authors and agents. I feel so energised by all we have achieved together this year and I’m excited for the future of Century fiction, and for my growing list of authors.”
Griffin described Loughnane as “strategic, laser-focused, creative and a valuable mentor to others within the team”.
“She’s an outstanding publisher and beloved by the authors and agents that she works with," Griffin said. "She has contributed a huge amount to Century in just over one year and I’m excited to work even more closely with her as she continues to take our general fiction, saga and romance lists from strength to strength."
