Louisa Treger has joined the board of the Oxford Literary Festival as a trustee. Treger is the author of four novels, The Lodger (Bloomsbury, 2014), The Dragon Lady (Bloomsbury, 2019), Madwoman (Bloomsbury, 2022), and her most recent book, The Paris Muse (Bloomsbury, 2024).
The Sunday Times described Treger as "carving a name for herself as one of the leading writers of biographical
fiction" and has to date focused on often-overlooked women in history.
Treger, a "keen supporter of the festival for many years now", said: "I am honoured to have been invited to serve as a trustee of the Oxford Literary Festival, which I have admired for many years, both for its unflinching commitment to free speech, and for its dedication to excellence in programming."
The festival, founded in 1997, is the only major UK literary festival to receive no state or local authority funding and is entirely dependent on sponsorship and donations.
Festival director Sally Dunsmore said: "We are delighted Louisa Treger has agreed to become a trustee of the Oxford Literary Festival. Her commitment to literature, the joy of imagination and free expression of ideas— demonstrated beautifully through her own writing—is exceptional along with her deep understanding of the festival and its work. We are immensely lucky to have her commitment and support."
