Tallulah Lyons has been promoted to the role of commissioning editor of #Merky Books, after initially joining as assistant editor in 2020.
Lyons previously worked in Penguin Audio after joining PRH through The Scheme. At #Merky Books, she has brought authors including Taylor-Dior Rumble, whose novel The Situationship publishes in August this year, Delia Cai, and Toya Wolfe, to the list.
She has both published the New Writers’ Prize winner this year, Jyoti Patel, who made the Observer debut novelist list in 2023 with The Things that We Lost, and acquired this year’s winner, Will Hunter, with People Like Us, from Kat Aitken at United Agents.
She said “I’m delighted to have been made commissioning editor. In the two years I’ve been at #Merky Books, I’ve been incredibly lucky to work with some fantastic authors and talented colleagues. I cannot wait to discover new voices and I am so excited for the opportunity to continue growing our fiction list.”
Lyons will continue to report to Helen Conford, publisher across Hutchinson Heinemann, Cornerstone Press and #Merky Books, who said: “Tallulah is a tenacious, creative and inspiring editor whose eye for engaging writing and new talent is bringing so much to the #MerkyBooks list and our wider publishing. I can’t wait to see what the next stage in her career will bring.”
