Laura Macaulay has been promoted to Pushkin Press publishing director and deputy managing director, and India Edwards has been promoted to publishing operations director. They begin in the newly created roles immediately.
In her new role, Macaulay takes on editorial responsibility for the adult publishing lists at Pushkin Press, including the ONE and Vertigo imprints, with the editorial team across the adult lists reporting to her.
She will continue to acquire literary fiction and non-fiction both in translation and English-language original, as well as classics. Macaulay’s authors include Sarah Gilmartin, Rebecca May Johnson, Lan Samantha Chang, Anya von Bremzen and Perumal Murugan.
Macaulay was hired by Pushkin Press in 2016 as deputy publisher. She joined from Daunt Books, where she was publisher.
As publishing operations director, Edwards takes on responsibility for publishing operations in addition to managing the growing production and design teams. Pushkin is currently recruiting a junior designer to work with art director Jo Walker, as well as a sales operations executive, both new full-time roles which will be managed by Edwards. She was previously managing editor.
Adam Freudenheim, Pushkin’s publisher and m.d., said: “Laura and India have both been instrumental in our many successes over the last several years. I’m delighted to recognise their ongoing contributions with these promotions as both take on more responsibility for our growing team.”
