Polly Mackintosh has been appointed editor at Gallic Books, joining from a communications role at British YouTube channel and food community Sorted Food.
She previously worked with Gallic as an editorial assistant and translator from French.
Mackintosh will work across the Gallic list, taking responsibility for lead authors such as Antoine Laurain whose next novel is published in June 2023, and Muriel Barbery, as well as acquiring new titles for Gallic’s growing list of French and English-language authors.
Joe Harper, managing director, said: “I am delighted that Polly will be joining Gallic, with a wide brief to find the best of French and English-language titles to build on our many past successes. Her keen eye for great writing and experience in editing, marketing and translation mean she is perfectly equipped to help develop our list into the future.”
Mackintosh added: “I am very excited to be returning to Gallic as editor. I look forward to working with their excellent authors and discovering new voices. I am confident that we can continue to publish a dynamic list that celebrates the best of French writing and the best of English-language storytelling from across the world."
