Lucy Malagoni has been promoted to the role of executive publisher for Sphere Fiction and Little, Brown Audiobooks. She takes on the role immediately.
Malagoni, who has been at Little, Brown for 15 years and has spent the last decade at Sphere, most recently as fiction publisher, devising and overseeing strategy for the list, will continue to report to Little, Brown deputy managing director Catherine Burke.
She has acquired and published Val McDermid, Clare Mackintosh and Jenny Colgan. She also works on Sphere’s J K Rowling and Robert Galbraith publishing.
Malagoni said: “I am really delighted to be stepping up as executive publisher following such a phenomenal year for Sphere fiction. Last year, we celebrated 11 Sunday Times bestsellers—a total of 58 appearances in the top 10—seven number one Kindle bestsellers, two Richard & Judy picks and a number of international bestsellers.
“I couldn’t be prouder of our authors and the outstanding team who have delivered so much success. I am also particularly looking forward to working with Sarah Shrubb [Little, Brown audio publisher] and leading the pioneering, creative and innovative audio team at Little, Brown.”
Burke added: “Little, Brown has had an exceptional few years, no more so than in 2022, and the Sphere fiction team were a huge contributor to that success. Lucy is a tremendous colleague, an exceptional publisher and inspiring leader within Sphere fiction and we are thrilled to promote her into this bigger and broader role.”
