Manchester University Press (MUP) has appointed Tom Dark as new trade publisher. Dark previously served as head of books at Edinburgh University Press. This appointment marks a return to MUP for Tom, where he had previously worked shaping its trade list. MUP’s trade list, launched in 2020, has seen year-on-year growth.
During his previous tenure at MUP, Tom commissioned a number of bestsellers in MUP’s trade catalogue, including The Value of a Whale by Adrienne Buller; Me, Not You by Alison Phipps; and Culture Is Bad for You by David O’Brien, Orian Brook and Mark Taylor.
Editorial director, Emma Brennan, said: "Tom’s return to MUP comes at the perfect time for the Press’s development. As Trade Publisher, he will oversee the continued expansion of the list, with a focus on commissioning bold, high impact works which align with MUP’s commitment to academic excellence and public engagement."
Dark said: "I’m thrilled to continue the exciting trajectory of this unique and innovative non-fiction list. Watch this space for many more eye-catching titles to come."
