Mattel and Warner Bros Pictures join with Faber to 'turn the literary world pink'

Mattel and Warner Bros Pictures are joining forces with Faber to release of the Barbie Movie Screenplay, marking the first time the screenplay is available in print.

The original screenplay of the film, written by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Greta Gerwig and three-time Academy Award nominated writer and director Noah Baumbach, will be published by Faber and is available for pre-sale beginning today, Friday 1st December. It features an exclusive introduction by Gerwig and Baumbach and eight pages of full-colour photos from the film, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

"Anarchically hilarious and unexpectedly emotional, ’Barbie’ is an original, magical cinematic confection of absurdity, heart and Technicolor musicals," the synopsis says. "Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach have created a deeply personal and idiosyncratic film from the icon that is the Barbie doll."

Publication is scheduled for 14th December 2023 in the UK and 26th December 2023 in the US.
