Eleanor Maxfield is joining The Quarto Group as publisher of a new imprint focusing on commercial cookery and wellness.
Maxfield is currently publishing director of Hamlyn, an imprint of Octopus. Quarto said its new imprint “will be an exciting new home for cookery and related wellness authors and brands” and “will build on Quarto’s existing presence in the food and drink category and continue its growth in these highly buoyant areas”.
Prior to Octopus, Maxfield worked at BBC Books and Ebury. During her 14 years at Octopus she has published best-selling titles and authors including The Vintage Tea Party by Angel Strawbridge, Chetna Makan, TV tie-in Eat Shop Save, Louise Parker, Dirty Vegan, Jeremy Pang and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and was responsible for highly successful series and brand partnerships from the Hamlyn All Colour Cookery series to Weber.
Alison Goff, Quarto group c.e.o., said: “Eleanor comes with a fantastic track record of highly successful cookery publishing, author development and list-building. This new venture is a demonstration of our focus and ambition in the food and wellness areas and I am looking forward to seeing Eleanor’s new imprint launch and thrive.”
Maxfield added: “I will very much miss my Octopus family whose stellar list is a testament to their dedication and enthusiasm. This is an amazing opportunity to create a brand-new home for commercial cookery and wellness talent and I look forward to building an exciting, wide-appealing list. I’m thrilled to be joining the innovative team at Quarto and can’t wait to start working with them on their continued success.”
