Penguin Random House Ireland’s publicity director Patricia McVeigh will join HarperCollins in Ireland in the same role.
McVeigh replaces Mary Byrne who is leaving the company for a move to Italy. McVeigh will report to HarperCollins communications director Fiona Allen and work alongside Eoin McHugh, publishing director and Tony Purdue, sales director. Her first day will be 23rd April.
HarperCollins said that McVeigh has been "a key member" of the publicity team at Penguin Random House Ireland for 13 years, most recently as publicity director for the Random House and Transworld divisions. "She has delivered outstanding campaigns across the list including for recent bestsellers by John Boyne and Edith Eger, PRH Ireland’s Children’s authors including Jeff Kinney and Jacqueline Wilson, international literary heavyweights such as Elizabeth Strout and Michael Ondaatje, and cookery stars including Yotam Ottolenghi and the Happy Pear duo of David and Stephen Flynn,” HarperCollins said.
In 2018 she launched Game Changer by elite footballer Cora Staunton, the first book by a female GAA player and Sports Book winner at the Irish Book Awards.
Allen said: "I am very pleased that Patricia is joining HarperCollins. Her skills and experience are a perfect fit for our growing business in Dublin and we are excited to welcome her to the team. I would also like to thank Mary Byrne for her exceptional work over many years at HarperCollins and we wish her all the best for the future."
McVeigh said she was “delighted” with the appointment. "I’ve had the privilege of working for 13 years with a wonderful team in Penguin Random House Ireland and working with incredible authors and titles. I am now excited for the next challenge and look forward to joining the team in Dublin and working across the fantastic HarperCollins lists."
