Megan Smith has been appointed as managing director of mass-market publisher Igloo Books.
Smith was previously group non-trade sales director at Hachette UK, and has also held roles at Penguin Random House UK, the BBC and Pan Macmillan.
Smith said: “Igloo’s ability to inspire retailers and consumers alike is exceptional. While I’m excited about the future, I’m deeply grateful to my colleagues at Hachette UK and the incredible Non-Trade Sales team for their support and collaboration over the years. I will miss them dearly."
Perminder Mann, chief executive of Bonnier Books UK, commented: "Megan’s collaborative spirit, entrepreneurial mindset and inspiring leadership made her stand out. Her vision, innovation and passion will be key to driving Igloo’s continued growth."
Dean Cornish, who has been with Igloo Books for 15 years, has also been promoted to the newly created role of deputy managing director. Cornish will assume his new role in December, coinciding with Smith’s arrival. Both will work closely with outgoing chief operating officer Darren Witherall during a handover period.
