Independent publisher Michael O’Mara Books is marking Earth Day (22nd April) this year by donating £50,000 to match funding charity The Big Give
The Big Give are co-ordinators of the Green Match Fund, a fundraising drive for environmental charities running from 20th to 27th April 2023. Last year, the campaign raised over £2.7m, which supported charities including Friends of the Earth and Surfers Against Sewage, plus many more. More information can be found here.
Lesley O’Mara, managing director at Michael O’Mara, has been a long-term campaigner for the environment, donating to charities including Client Earth and David Shephard Wildlife Foundation, in addition to this year’s donation to The Big Give.
She also works as a fundraising volunteer with Extinction Rebellion, who are holding a large-scale peaceful protest in London on 21st April. The day will see 100,000 people walking through Westminster, and a group from Michael O’Mara Books will attend.
O’Mara said: “We’re so proud to be Champions of the Big Green Give appeal this year. Earth Day is a timely reminder that we need to act on climate change and I want to do everything I can to help, from raising awareness to protesting to supporting charities who are doing amazing work to conserve habitats for wildlife.”
